You are usually good, this article strikes me as a wishlist though and feels a bit Luddite. Self Checkouts are far from the promised revolution but remain in use in a lot of different places. It doesnt replace cashiers but what it does is the same as all robots that replace humans and that is one better paid senior employee looks after 5-10 machines, interveniung with customers where required. This is not too dissimilar to factory automation where a group of people is replaced by someone pressing a button and someone else maintaining the machine and quality
