Actually no they aren’t and most psychologists and experts would agree.

In summary a cult leader requires something from you (money, your life etc) where as something like Christianity gives something to you, in this case Jesus gave his life and asked his followers to live a life in his footsteps, in other words to live a good life and love their neighbours.

Even the associated laws are different. The bible implores based on principle giving everyone free choice. Cult leaders demand and threaten.

Now of course there are those, even historically within the church (or claiming to be) that have turned their local part of Christianity into a cult. That is a perversion of what it is rather than its essence.

Where those people are found, cult leaders and con artists whether inside or outside of an established faith they should always be called and rooted out.
